The Town Clerk’s office is located at the Town Office Building, 14341 Waterport-Carlton Road, Albion, NY 14411. The current Town Clerk is Debbie Yockel and the current Deputy Town Clerk’s are Diane Huntington and Valerie Niederhofer. The Clerk issues dog licenses, handicapped parking permits, fishing/hunting licenses, and marriage licenses. Notary services are also available. FOIL requests may be made in person or by sending an email to dyockel@townofcarlton.org.

The Town Clerk’s office operates from Tuesday to Friday, opening at 8:30 AM and closing at 2:30 PM. On Saturdays, the hours are slightly adjusted, with operations beginning at 9:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM. Please note the Town Clerk’s office remains closed on Mondays. Additionally, appointments can be arranged upon request, providing flexibility for those unable to visit during regular operating hours.

Vital Records

Copies of records for births, deaths and marriages filed in the Town from 1847 to present can be issued at the Town Clerk’s office. An application process is required and the fee is $10.00 per certified copy.

Tax collection information

The Carlton Tax Collector is responsible for County/Town tax bills only. The bills are mailed in the beginning of January.

Unpaid tax rolls are surrendered to the Orleans County Treasurer on May 1st. Please contact the County Treasurer at 585-589–5353 for specific amount owing.
